“When I was 12, I remember praying that God would just let me sing well enough
so that the woman standing in front of me at church wouldn’t turn around every
time I sang. That’s all I hoped to accomplish at the time.”
These days, it's possible you've heard Denise's music
adding to the atmosphere of an episode
Soul Food on Showtime, or you’ve been inspired by her song "Today" on
Women Of Substance
Radio's Seize The Day Show. Or, maybe you and your friends have danced and reminisced
to the classic rock band Denise has with her husband, bassist/producer, Keith Rosier.
Perhaps you even know someone whose child is one of over 200 children who have received
a personal song written by Denise through the Songs Of Love Foundation.
Denise’s musical expression takes many avenues, but the common denominator is her ability
to deliver a song with honesty and refreshing authenticity. Audiences are drawn to her
warmth and accessibility, and they see themselves in the stories she tells.
Although her love
of singing is core to her career, she is equally
passionate about songwriting. While label shopping
with her first CD, the 2001 release Only a Whisper
Away, Denise repeatedly heard the message that composition and publishing were
where she should put her focus. Thus began her deeply satisfying journey as
a songwriter. “Songwriting is my passion. I’ve agonized over it, and sworn never
to write another song again, but I love it, and I can’t stop it. Everything I see,
hear, and experience is consolidated and framed into a song.” Throughout the years,
Denise’s songwriting pursuits have run the gamut; she's penned songs for
CD projects, composed children's music, and collaborated with other artists.
In 2006, Denise became a staff writer with the Songs of Love Foundation, an organization
that creates personalized songs for critically and terminally ill children and teens.
Working from detailed profiles submitted by the family, Denise crafts and records custom
songs that celebrate the special qualities of the recipient. Everything is done in her
home studio and then sent back to Songs of Love, which cuts the CD and sends it on
to the family, free of charge. To date, Denise has written over 200 songs for the
foundation and has brought comfort to countless children and families.
She feels that her work with Songs of Love is the most important thing she
has ever done with her music.
Denise’s newest CD is
Baby Come On. This 9-track collection features all
original compositions. Inspired by real life stories, these songs reflect on themes that are universal to
the human experience: love, loss, taking chances, letting go, and getting
down to the heart of what’s most important in life. Denise’s impeccably clean
and inviting vocals highlight the music, which is masterfully executed by a
top-tier session band. Baby Come On floats beautifully across many
genres- pop, country & acoustic-and showcases the depth and versatility
of Denise’s songwriting.
In addition to Baby Come On,
Denise has a few other projects in the queue. She
will soon be releasing a children’s CD “Live Out
Loud” and also a book and CD Mister Whiskers, which is a counting song about a funny cat
and his pet mouse. Her award-winning song “Robin’s Lullaby” will be
featured on the children’s CD series “I Love Life” and will be
released by Phoenix Voyage.
Denise lives in Orange County, California with her husband and daughter.
Denise has a strong fan base in the region and is in increasing demand
as a guest artist for many showcases and organizations.
Interestingly, some of these are churches. Denise Rosier has come full circle.
